Most of us want to listen well.
But when conversations get emotional, confusing, or heavy… we freeze, fix, avoid, or say the wrong thing.

**

A self-study course to help you learn the science and skill of listening so others feel seen, heard, and valued.

This is not about saying the perfect thing.
It’s about learning how to be present with someone in a way that changes the conversation.

WANT TO BE A BETTER LISTENER?

The Attuned Listener helps you slow down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and respond in ways that help people feel safe, seen, and understood.

Have you ever...

  • Wanted to help, but didn’t know what to say?

  • Found yourself offering advice when someone just needed presence?

  • Avoided hard conversations because they felt overwhelming?

  • Walked away thinking, “That didn’t land the way I hoped”?

You’re not broken. It's not "just you".
You’re not bad at listening.

You were never taught how.
Listening is a skill — one that involves your brain, body, emotions, and nervous system. And like any skill, it can be learned and practiced.

Imagine if…

  • People opened up to you more naturally

  • You felt calmer and more grounded in emotional conversations

  • You knew how to stay present without fixing or rushing

  • Hard conversations felt less intimidating and more human

That’s the work of attuned listening.

What Is The Attuned Listener?

The Attuned Listener is a self-paced online course taught by Dr. Jackie Perry, designed to help everyday people listen with greater presence, confidence, and care.

Drawing from neuroscience, counseling practice, and decades of real-world experience, this course shows you:

  • Why listening feels hard
  • What is happening in the brain and nervous system during conversations
  • How to respond in ways that foster safety, trust, and connection

Each lesson is short, practical, and immediately applicable to real life.

Who's It For...

This course is for you if you are:

  • A parent, partner, or family member
  • A helper, leader, coach, or caregiver
  • Someone who wants deeper relationships
  • Someone who feels unsure how to respond to vulnerability
  • Someone who wants tools — not platitudes

No prior training required.
Just a willingness to slow down and practice.

What You’ll Learn

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Understand why listening is challenging — and why that’s normal
  • Recognize common listening habits that unintentionally shut people down
  • Learn science-based skills that create safety and trust
  • Stay present in emotional conversations without fixing or avoiding

Respond in ways that help others feel genuinely seen and heard

An Invitation:

At a time when so many people are experiencing high levels of loneliness and disconnection, it is time to equip and empower people - especially Christ followers - to listen and lovingly hold space for a person’s story in a way that reflects the heart and with-ness of God.
