ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Jackie Perry, PhD
Dr. Jackie Perry is a seasoned clinical mental health counselor and supervisor. She received a BS in psychology from Duke University, an MS in Community Counseling from Georgia State University & Richmont Graduate University (formerly PSI), and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University.
Dr. Perry carries three decades of clinical and supervisory work focused on adolescents, emergent adults, and families.
Dr. Perry is passionate about translating her experience and knowledge into trainings that make learning approachable and practical. She founded The Attuned Listener to address the growing need for meaningful connections. While formal mental health support is important, Dr. Perry believes professionals, parents, partners, and friends also have a critical role to play in supporting the need for healthy connections.
What is Attuned Listening?
Attuned listening is the posture and practice of being aware and responsive to the verbal, emotional, physiological, and behavioral messages unfolding within and between people as they communicate. It requires presence, resonance, and focus.
While many of us know how to hear, few of us know how to listen in this way. Luckily, attuned listening is a skill that can be taught and learned.
